Pythian Oyunları, Modern Olimpiyat Oyunlarının öncülüğünü yaptığı Antik Yunan Panhellenic Oyunları'nın dört yılda birinde Delphi'deki Apollo kutsal alanında yapıldı. Her Olimpiyat Oyunlarından iki yıl sonra ve her Nemean ve İstihmî Oyunlar arasında Apollo onuruna düzenlendi. M.Ö. 6. yüzyılda bir arazide kurulmuşlardı ve Olimpiyat Oyunları'nın aksine, sanat ve dans yarışmaları da vardı. Sanat ve dans yarışmaları, oyunların atletik bölümlerinden önce yapıldı ve Apollo tarafından Python'u öldürdükten sonra başlatıldığı ve Delphi'de kehanetinin kurulduğu söylendi.
