Genelde Delphi'nin Oracle olarak bilinen Pythia, Castalian Baharı'nın altındaki Parnassus Dağı'nın eteklerinde bulunan Delphi'deki Apollo Tapınağı'nın tarihi boyunca herhangi bir rahibin adıydı. Pythia, Apollo'dan esinlenen kehanetleri için büyük bir önem taşıyordu. Delphic oracle, M.Ö. 8. yüzyılda kurulmuş olmasına rağmen, M.Ö. 1400'den günümüze Geç Mycenaean zamanında var olmuş ve terk edilmişti ve Apollon'un Tapınağı daha önce Gaia'ya adamıştı. En son kaydedilen yanıt, imparator I. Theodosius'a, pagan tapınaklarını operasyonu durdurması için emreden sonra yaklaşık 395 A.D. verildi.
