Radyo, elektromanyetik sinyallerin atmosfer ya da boş alan üzerinden radyasyonudur. Ses gibi bilgiler, yayılımlı dalgaların genlik, frekans, faz veya darbe genişliği gibi bazı özelliklerini sistematik olarak değiştirerek taşınır. Radyo dalgaları bir elektrik iletkenine çarptığında salınım yapan alanlar iletkende bir alternatif akım oluşturur. Dalgalardaki bilgiler çıkarılabilir ve orijinal haline geri dönüştürülebilir.
İngilizce sözlükte radio sözcüğünün tanımı
Sözlükteki radyonun ilk tanımı, yayın, iki yönlü iletişim, vb. Için radyo frekans aralığında yatan elektromanyetik dalgaların kullanılmasıdır. Radyonun diğer tanımı da denir: kablosuz. radyo sinyallerinin ses yayın istasyonlarından vb. alınması için tasarlanmış, demodüle edilmekte ve çoğaltılması için tasarlanmış bir elektronik cihaz. Radyo aynı zamanda iki yönlü iletişim için hem radyo sinyallerinin gönderilmesini hem de almasını sağlayan benzer bir cihazdır.
