Konrad Raiser
Konrad Raiser, Dünya Kiliseler Konseyi eski Genel Sekreteri'dir. 25 Ocak 1938'de Almanya'nın Magdeburg kentinde doğan Raiser, çocukluğunu Schwerin, Göttingen ve Bad Godesberg'de geçirdi. 1957'de Tübingen'de liseden mezun olduktan sonra Raiser, Almanya'daki Protestan Kilisesi tarafından düzenlenen bir programda Dortmund'daki bir çelik fabrikasında altı ay geçirdi. Ünlü bir hukuk profesörü olan babası, EKD ulusal konferansının başkanlığını yıllarca yapmıştı. Raiser, 1957'de Tübingen'de teoloji okumaya başladı ve Bethel'deki ilahiyat okuluna, daha sonra Heidelberg ve Zürih üniversitelerine geçti. Şubat 1963'te Tübingen'deki akademik teolojik eğitimini tamamladı, Mayıs 1964'te atandı ve 1965'te pastoral eğitimi bitirdi. Önce İnanç ve Düzen bölümünde Dünya Kiliseler Konseyi ile çalışmaya başladı. Daha sonra Genel Sekreter Yardımcısı oldu. WCC'yi 1983'te terk ederek Raiser, Almanya'daki Bochum Üniversitesi'nde teoloji öğretmeye başladı ve 1992 yılında tekrar Cenevre'ye döndü. WCC Merkez Komitesi, beş yıllığına Genel Sekreter olarak Raiser'i seçti.
