Hakimiyet (genetik)
Genetiği hakim kılmak, bir alelin aynı lokustaki ikinci bir alleli ifade ettiği bir genin alelleri arasındaki bir ilişkidir. İlk alel dominanttır ve ikinci alel resesifdir. Bir otozomadaki genler için, aleller ve bunların ilişkili özellikleri otozomal dominant veya otozomal resesifdir. Hakimiyet, Mendel mirası ve klasik genetikte önemli bir kavramdır. Genellikle baskın alel fonksiyonel bir protein kodlarken, resesif alel buna işaret etmez. Hakimiyetin klasik bir örneği, bezelyelerde tohum biçiminin miras alınmasıdır. Bezelye yuvarlak veya buruşmuş olabilir. Bu durumda, üç alel kombinasyonu mümkündür: RR, Rr ve rr. RR bireyleri yuvarlak bezelye ve rr bireyleri kırışmış bezelye var.
