Bölgeselleşme, ademi merkeziyetçi bölgeler oluşturma eğilimidir. Bölgeselleşme çeşitli disiplinlerde görülebilir: ▪ Coğrafyada iki yol vardır: Dünyayı, küçük alanlarını veya diğer birimlerini bölgelere tasvir etme süreci ve böyle bir tanımlama durumu. Bkz. Arazi sınıflandırması. ▪ Küreselleşme söyleminde, daha güçlü bir bölgesel odak ile daha az birbirine bağlı hale gelen bir dünyayı temsil eder. ▪ Politikada, siyasi bir varlığı veya ülkeyi daha küçük yargılara bölme ve merkezi hükümetten bölgelere güç aktarma süreci; Birleşmenin tam tersi.
