Rolamite
Rolamite, 1960'lı yıllarda Sandia National Laboratories tarafından geliştirilen çok düşük sürtünmeli rulmanlar için bir teknolojidir. Sandia mühendis Donald F. Wilkes tarafından icat edildi ve 24 Haziran 1969'da kendisi tarafından patenti alındı. Bu cihazlar, sürtünmeye karşı çok az enerji kaybeden doğrusal bir yatak cihazı oluşturmak için bir muhafaza içerisinde gerilmiş bir metal bant ve karşı döner silindir kullanıyor. Bir kaynak, 20. yüzyılın tek temel mekanik icadı olduğunu iddia ediyor. Sandia tarafından yapılan testler, Rolamite mekanizmalarının 0.0005 gibi düşük bir sürtünme katsayıları gösterdiğini belirtti.
