Salmoniade
Salmonidae, şu anda Salmoniformes düzeninde bulunan tek yaşayan ailenin ışınlanmış balıktır. Somon, alabalık, kara, tatlı su balığı ve gümüşü içerir. Atlantik somon ve Salmo cinsinden alabalık ailenin adını verir ve sipariş verir. Salmonidler, teleost balığı arasında nispeten ilkel bir görünüşe sahiptirler; pelvik kanatçıklar geriye yerleştirilir ve arkalık sırtına doğru bir yağ yüzdürülür. Bunlar, yuvarlak ölçekler ve çatallı kuyrukları olan ince balıklardır. Ağızları tek sıra halinde keskin dişler içerir. En küçük türler yetişkin olarak sadece 13 santimetre uzunluğa sahip olmasına rağmen, çoğu daha büyüktür, en büyüğü 2 metreye ulaşmaktadır. Tüm salmonidler taze suda yumurtlar, ancak çoğu durumda hayatlarının çoğunu denizde geçirirler, yalnızca üreme bölgelerine dönerler. Bu yaşam döngüsü anadromous olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Bunlar, küçük kabukluları, su böcekleri ve küçük balıkları besleyen yırtıcılardır.
