Samos
Samos, doğu Ege Denizi'ndeki, Sakız Adası'nın güneyindeki, Patmos'tan ve Dodecanese'nin kuzeyinde, ve 1.6 kilometrelik Mikale Boğazı ile ayrılan Küçük Asya kıyılarındaki bir Yunan adasıdır. Ayrıca, Kuzey Ege bölgesinin ayrı bir bölgesel birimi ve bölgesel birimin tek belediyesidir. Antik çağlarda, özellikle bağları ve şarap üretimi için bilinen Samos, özellikle zengin ve güçlü şehir devletiydi. Pythagoreion'a ve antik mühendislik harikası Eupalinian su kemerini içeren UNESCO Dünya Mirası Listesi olan Samos Heraionu'na ev sahipliği yapmaktadır. Samanyalı şarap antik çağda iyi biliniyordu ve hala adada üretilmektedir. Ada, 1835'ten 1912'de Yunanistan'a katılıncaya kadar Osmanlı hükümdarlığı altında Samos'un yarı özerk Prensliği tarafından idare edildi.
