Kum kurdu Frank Herbert tarafından yaratılan Dune evrendeki kurgusal bir yaratık kurgusal şeklidir. İlk bilimkurgu türünün klasikleri arasında sayılan ve Dune serisinin ikonik olduğu 1965 tarihli Dune romanında yer alırlar. Hemen hemen tahrip edilemez ve potansiyel olarak binlerce yıllık sınırsız ömrü olan dev kumulculuğa "Çölün Yaşlı Adamı", "Eski Baba Geçiciliği" ve "Çölün Büyükbabası" da denir. Solucanlar Fremen tarafından Tanrı İmparatoru olan Şaitan olarak da adlandırılabilir.
