Seröz sıvı
Fizyolojide, seröz sıvı ya da serozal sıvı terimi, genellikle soluk sarı ve saydam olan vücut boşluklarını dolduran benign bir yapıda olan çeşitli vücut sıvıları için kullanılır. Seröz sıvı, seröz bezlerden kaynaklanır; sekresyonlar proteinler ve su ile zenginleştirilmiştir. Seröz sıvı hem mukus hem de seröz hücreleri içeren karışık bezlerden kaynaklanabilir. Serum sıvılarının ortak bir özelliği, sindirim, atılım ve solunumda yardımcı olmalarıdır. Tıbbi alanlarda, özellikle sitopatolojide, seröz sıvı çeşitli vücut boşluklarından çıkan efüzyon sıvılarıyla eşanlamlıdır. Kavitenin kanserle tutulmasını içeren efüzyonların birçok nedeni vardır. Bu kavitelerde efüzyonların nedenlerini değerlendirmek için sitopatoloji değerlendirmesi önerilmektedir.
