Dünya dışı istihbarat araştırması, akıllı dünyevi hayat aramaya yönelik yapılan çeşitli faaliyetlerin ortak adıdır. SETI projeleri bu araştırmada bilimsel yöntemler kullanıyor. Örneğin, elektromanyetik radyasyon, diğer dünyalardaki medeniyetlerden gelen yayın işaretleri için izlenir.
