Snell yasası, su, cam ve hava gibi iki farklı izotropik ortam arasındaki sınırdan geçen ışık veya diğer dalgalar için insidans ve kırılma açıları arasındaki ilişkiyi tanımlamak için kullanılan bir formüldür. Optikte kanun, ışın izlemede insidans veya kırılma açılarını ve deneysel optikte ve gemolojide bir maddenin kırılma indisini bulmak için kullanılır. Yine ışık, negatif kırılma indeksi ile negatif bir kırılma açısında "geriye doğru" eğilmesine izin veren metamatiklerden de tatmin edilir. Hollandalı astronom Willebrord Snellius'un adını almış olmasına rağmen, yasa ilk olarak 984 yılında Bağdat mahkemesinde bilim adamı İbn Sahl tarafından doğru şekilde tanımlandı.
