Güney Yaylaları, anakaradaki İskoçya'nın üç büyük coğrafi alanının en güney ve en az nüfusudur. Kayaların çoğunluğu zayıf şekilde metamorfozlaşmış kaba gri yalpa biçimindedir. Ezici bir çoğunlukla kırsal ve çoğunlukla tarımsal bölge olan Güney Karayolu, kısmen ormanlıktır ve birçok açık alana sahiptir.
