Bezelye
Bölünmüş bezelye, Pisum sativum'un kurutulmuş, soyulmuş ve bölünmüş tohumlarından oluşan bir tarımsal veya mutfak hazırlığıdır. Kabuk soyulurken, yetiştirdikleri tohum kabuğunda olmamasına ek olarak, bölme işlemi bezelyein donuk renkli dış kabuğunu da ortadan kaldırır. Sarı ve yeşil çeşitler gelir. Hasat ve kurutulunca bezelyeler yuvarlaktır. Kuruduktan sonra, cilt çıkarıldıktan sonra, tohumun kotiledonundaki doğal bölünme, ısınmaya maruz kalan yüzey alanının artması nedeniyle kısmen daha hızlı pişirilmesini teşvik etmek için elle veya mekanik olarak ayrılabilir. Piyasalarda, bölünmüş bezelyenin hem yeşil hem de sarı çeşitleri, renkleriyle torbaya konulan ilgili seçimlerinde bulunur. Bu iki renk, bezelyelerde tohum renginin kalıtımını inceleyen Gregor Mendel'in çalışmalarının bir kısmını yansıtıyor. Yeşil fenotip sarı bir resesiftir. Safkan sarı genotipi geleneksel olarak "YY", yeşilin "yy" genotipi ve ikisinin melezleri "Yy" nin sarı (baskın) bir fenotipe sahip olduğu bilinmektedir.
