Göğüs kafesi veya göğüs kemiği, toraksın merkezinde kalpten anteriyor bulunan başkent "T" ye benzeyen uzun, düz kemikli bir plakadır. Kaburga kemiklerine kıkırdak yoluyla bağlanır ve kaburga kafesin ön bölümünü onlarla oluşturur ve böylece akciğerleri, kalbi ve büyük kan damarlarını fiziksel travmadan korumaya yardımcı olur. Kaynaştırılmış olmasına rağmen, göğüs kafesi üç bölüme ayrılabilir: manubrium, vücut ve xiphoid prosesi.
