Strophanthus, Güney Afrika'ya uzanan, Asya'da birkaç tür, güney Hindistan'dan Filipinler'e ve güney Çin'e uzanan Apocynaceae familyasında 35-40 çeşit çiçekli bitki örneğidir. Adı, bir türe 30-35 cm uzunluğa ulaşan uzun boylu bükülmüş ipliksi kesitlerden gelir. Tür, üzüm, çalılık ve küçük ağaçları içerir. Yapraklar tam tersi veya çatlamış, geniş 2-20 cm uzunluğunda, geniş bir leğensel olup, tüm kenarı vardır. Afrika kabilelerinin birçoğu, ok zehirinde ana madde olarak Strophanthus kullanıyordu.
