Alt simge ve üst simge
Bir alt simge veya üst simge, normal türün satırından daha küçük bir sayı, şekil, sembol veya göstergedir ve biraz aşağıda veya üzerinde ayarlanmıştır. Alt simgeler taban çizginin altında veya altında, üst simgeler yukarıdaysa görünürler. Alt simgeler ve üst simgeler belki de formüllerde, matematiksel ifadelerde ve kimyasal bileşiklerin ve izotopların özelliklerinde kullanıldığı için en iyi bilinmektedir, ancak diğer pek çok kullanımları da vardır.
