Bir tergum, baş dışında bir artropod segmentinin sırt kısmıdır. Ön kenara taban, arka kenar ise apeks veya kenar olarak adlandırılır. Belli bir tergum sertleştirilmiş tabaklara ya da sıklıkla tergitler olarak adlandırılan skleritlere ayrılabilir. Böylece örneğin torasik bir segmentte tergum bir anterior notum ve bir posterior scutellum olarak ayrılabilir. Bir tergitin dorsal yönünün lateral uzantısı paranota olarak adlandırılır. Kabuklu hayvanlarda, tergum, her iki taraftaki uzuvun serbest plaka olarak yerleştirilmesi üzerine çıktığı zaman bir plevran olarak bilinir. Tergumun aksine, bir segmentin ventral kısmı sternum olarak adlandırılır.
