Tetanik uyarımı
Nörobiyolojide, tetanik bir uyarım, bir nöronun bireysel uyarılmalarının yüksek frekanslı bir diziliminden oluşur. Potentiasyon ile ilişkilidir. Yüksek frekanslı uyarım post-tetanik potensiyasyon denilen serbest bırakılmaya neden olur. Bu presinaptik olaya kalsiyum akışı neden olur. Kalsiyum-protein etkileşimleri, vezikül egzositozunda bir değişiklik meydana getirir. Bu değişikliklerin sonucu, postsinaptik hücrenin bir aksiyon potansiyeli atma olasılığını artırmaktır. Tetanik uyarı, tıpta, nöromüsküler kavşakta depolarizan olmayan bir bloğu veya bir depolarizan bloğu tespit etmek için kullanılır. Yaşlı kaslarda tetanik stimülasyonun daha az ortaya çıkması, iskelet kaslarındaki anaerobik enerji seviyesinin daha düşük seviyelerinden kaynaklanmaktadır.
