Transferin
Transferrinler, biyolojik sıvılardaki serbest demir seviyesini kontrol eden demir bağlayıcı kan plazma glikoproteinidir. İnsan transferrin TF geni tarafından kodlanır. Transferrin glikoproteinleri demiri çok sıkı, ancak tersine bağlarlar. Transferrin'e bağlı olan demir miktarı toplam vücut demirinin% 0.1'inden az olsa da, en yüksek ciro oranına sahip en önemli demir havuzudur. Transferrin yaklaşık 80 KDa'lık bir moleküler ağırlığa sahiptir ve iki spesifik yüksek afiniteli Fe bağlama bölgesi içerir. Transferrin'in Fe için afinitesi son derece yüksektir, ancak pH nötrlüğün altına düştüğünde kademeli olarak azalmaktadır. Demire bağlı olmadığında, "apotransferrin" olarak bilinir.
