Sigrid Undset
Sigrid Undset 1928'de Nobel Edebiyat Ödülü alan Norveçli bir romancıydı. Undset, Danimarka'nın Kalundborg kentinde doğdu, ancak ailesi iki yaşındayken Norveç'e taşındı. 1924'te Roma Katolikliği'ne geçti. Nazi Almanyasına ve Alman işgale muhalefetinden dolayı 1940 yılında Norveç'ten Norveç'ten kaçtı, ancak II. Dünya Savaşı'nın 1945'te sona ermesinden sonra geri döndü. En tanınmış eseri Ortaçağ İskandinavya'da yaşam hakkında üçlemenin Kristin Lavransdatter'idir , doğumdan ölüme kadar bir kadının tecrübeleri ile tasvir edildi. Üç cilt, 1920-1922 yılları arasında basıldı. Undset'in Nobel Ödülü, kısmen bu eser için ve kısmen de dört ciltlik eseri olan 1925 ve 1927 yılları arasında yayınlanan ve benzer temalarla uğraşan Hestviken'in Ustası için ödüllendirildi.
