Xerophthalmia, gözün gözyaşı üretemediği tıbbi bir durumdur. A vitamini eksikliğinden kaynaklanabilir ve bazen eksikliği tanımlamak için kullanılır, ancak başka sebepler olabilir. Şiddetli bir A vitamini eksikliğinden kaynaklanan kseroftalmi konjonktivanın ve kornea'nın patolojik kuruluğuyla tanımlanır. Konjonktiva kuru, kalın ve buruşuk hale gelir.
