Yenisey olarak da yazılan Yenisei, Arctic Ocean'a akan en büyük nehir sistemidir. Arctic Ocean'a akan üç büyük Sibirya nehirinin merkezi. Moğolistan'da yükselişte olan Kaniş, Yenisei-Angara-Selenga-Ider nehir sistemini takip eden en uzun akım olan merkezi Sibirya'nın büyük bir bölümünü boşaltarak Kara Denizindeki Yenisei Körfezine doğru kuzey yönünde ilerlemektedir. Akıntılara ve sellere maruz kalacak olan üst ulaşım seyrek nüfuslu alanlardan geçmektedir. Orta bölüm, önemli bir Rus birincil endüstriyi besleyen bir dizi büyük hidroelektrik baraj tarafından kontrol edilmektedir. Yeniseç'in maksimum derinliği 80 feet, ortalama derinlik 45 feet'tir. Nehir akışı derinliği 106 feet ve giriş 101 feet'tir.
