Resmi olarak Yokohama Şehri, Tokyo'nun ardından nüfus ve Japonya'nın en kalabalık belediyesi tarafından Japonya'nın en büyük ikinci şehridir. Yokohama (Yokohama-shi?) (Dinle (yardım info)) Kanagawa eyaletinin başkentidir. Tokyo'nun güneyindeki Tokyo Körfezi'nde, ana Honshu Adası'nın Kantō bölgesinde yer almaktadır. Büyük Tokyo Bölgesi'nin önemli ticaret merkezidir. Yokohama'nın 3.7 milyonluk nüfusu Japonya'nın en büyük kuruluşudur. Yokohama, 19. yüzyılın ortalarında Japonya'nın göreceli izolasyonunun sona ermesinin ardından Japonya'nın önde gelen liman kenti olarak hızla gelişti ve bugün, Kobe, Osaka, Nagoya, Hakata, Tokyo ve Chiba arasındaki ana limanlardan biri.
