Sorbitol, glukoz gibi altıgen şekeri azaltarak elde edilen bir hekza-alkol türüdür ve şekere benzer tatlı bir tat verir. Di-sorbitol, Kore Cumhuriyeti'nde onaylı bir tatlandırıcı olarak kullanılan bir gıda maddesidir. Yanıcılık ve higroskopikliğe sahip beyaz bir kristal olup tatlı bir tadı vardır ve su veya alkolde çözünürdür. Elma, şeftali, Kozmetik losyonu, krem, diş macunu, gıda katkı maddesi, vitamin sentetik hammadde, diyabetik hastaların tatlandırıcıları, diüretik. Erime noktası 93 ~ 97.5 ℃'dir. Formül CH20H4CH2OH'dir.
