PH'ta kimya, bir çözeltinin asitliği ve alkalinitesinin ölçüsüdür. PH'lı çözelti 7'den az alkalin iken pH'lı çözelti 7 asidikten daha azdır. Saf su 7'ye yakın bir pH değerine sahiptir. PH ölçeği, uluslararası standartlara dayanmaktadır. PH değeri ayarı, argentum klorür gibi standart elektrot ile hidrojen elektrodu arasındaki elektrot yeteneğindeki fark olan galvanik hücre konsantrasyonuna dayanarak belirlenir. Bir anhidrasyon çözeltisinin pH'si bir cam elektrodu ve pH metre ile veya bir pH göstergesi kullanılarak elde edilir.
