Homo politicus siyasi ilişkiler ve faaliyetlerde derinden yer alan bir varlıktır. Bu terim, politikanın sosyal yaşamın çok önemli bir alanı olduğu insanlara atıfta bulunur; Hayatlarının anlamı siyasi rollerin peşinde olmasıdır. Homo politicus siyasetle ilgileniyor, bu alandaki geniş bilgiye sahip. Ayrıca pratik tecrübeye sahip olabilir. Siyasi roller üstlenmek onun için mesleki olmayan bir meslek veya olumlu olarak değer verilen bir meslek olabilir. Bu kavram Aristoteles tarafından Siyaset konusundaki çalışmalarında kullanılmıştır. Ona göre, insan devlette yaşamak için yaratılmış bir yaratıktır.

Homo politicus to jednostka aktywnie uwikłana w stosunki i działania polityczne. Termin ten odnosi się do ludzi, dla których polityka jest bardzo ważnym obszarem życia społecznego; sensem ich życia jest dążenie do pełnienia ról politycznych. Homo politicus interesuje się polityką, posiada rozległą wiedzę w tej dziedzinie. Może on też mieć doświadczenie praktyczne. Pełnienie ról politycznych może być dla niego zajęciem pozazawodowym albo pozytywnie wartościowaną profesją. Pojęcia tego użył Arystoteles w swoim dziele Polityka. Według niego człowiek jest istotą stworzoną do życia w państwie.
