Kurşun, okuyucunun ilgisini çekme ve onu tüm makaleyi okumaya teşvik etme görevine sahiptir. Bu nedenle kısa, tutarlı ve kompakt olmalı. Kullanılan içerik ve kelime, makalenin bedenine atıfta bulunmalıdır. Çirkin bir davranış, önceliği kelimenin tam anlamıyla veya bir sonraki cümlede hafif değişikliklerle tekrarlamaktır.
