Акроліт являє собою композитну скульптуру з каменю та інших матеріалів, як у випадку з фігурою, торс якої виконаний з дерева, тоді як голова, руки та ноги виконані з мармуру. Дерево було приховано як драпіруванням, так і позолотою; лише видимі частини мармуру. Цей тип статуетки був поширеним і широко поширеним в класичній давнині. Грецька етимологія: акрос та лито, англійський переклад: "висота" або "кінцівка" і "камінь". Аналогічним чином, у хреселефантових скульптурі використовується слонова кістка замість мармуру, а часто і золото на частинах тіла та прикраси. Акроліти часто згадуються Паусаніасом, найвідомішим прикладом є Афіни Арея платаїв.
