Алостернічне регулювання
У біохімії аллостерична регуляція полягає в регуляції ферменту або іншого білка шляхом зв'язування ефекторної молекули на аллостерічному місці білка. Алостернічні ділянки дозволяють ефекторам зв'язуватися з білком, що часто призводить до зміни конформації або іншої зміни ефективності ферменту. Ефекти, що посилюють активність білка, називають аллостеричними активаторами, тоді як ті, які знижують активність білка, називаються аллостеричними інгібіторами. Термін "аллострія" походить від грецького аллосу "інше" та стереосистеми "твердого тіла" з посиланням на те, що регуляторний сайт аллостеричного протеїну фізично відрізняється від активного сайту. Алостернічні правила є природним прикладом керуючих петель, таких як зворотній зв'язок з продуктами, що потрапляють у майбутнє, або подання від субстратів на висхідній течії. Особливо важливе значення для сигналізації в клітинах має аллострія далекої дії.
