Катехізис
Катехізис - це резюме чи викладання вчення і служило навчальним вченням до таїнств, традиційно використовуваних у катехизації або християнському релігійному вченні дітей та дорослих людей, що перетворювалися. Катехизиси є доктринальними посібниками часто у формі запитань, за якими слід враховувати відповіді, формат, який також використовувався в нерелігійних або світських контекстах. Катехумен відноситься до призначеного реципієнта катехитичної роботи або інструкції. У Католицькій Церкві вони, як правило, були поміщені окремо у Святу Месу від тих, хто отримав Таїнство Хрещення. Ранні катехізатори виникли з греко-римських таємничих релігій, особливо пізній культ Мітри, призначений виховувати своїх членів у секретних вченнях, які конкурували з Католицькою Церквою як підпільна релігія в I-IV столітті до н.е. і, як стверджували, поділяли її багато ритуальних практик .
