Електрографічний термін використовується для перфокартної та технології сканування сторінок, що дозволило картам або сторінкам, позначеним олівцем, для обробки або перетворення на перфокарти. Ця технологія була продана IBM, її розробником, під терміном маркування сенсу. "Маркер сенсорного олівця свинцю", який продає IBM, відповідатиме федеральним нормам для "електрографічного свинцю". Марк сенс був торговим найменуванням, використовуваним IBM для електрографічних форм і систем.
