Елул
Елум - це дванадцятий місяць єврейського цивільного року і шостий місяць церковного року на єврейському календарі. Це літній місяць - 29 днів. Елул зазвичай зустрічається у серпні-вересні на григоріанський календар. Ім'я місяця, як імена інших решти єврейських календарних місяців, було виведено з вавилонського вигнання і походить від аккадського слова "Harvest". Подібна назва місяця також використовувалася в Аккадській, у формі elūlu. У єврейській традиції місяць Елул - це час покаяння в процесі підготовки до Святкових Днів Рош-Хашана і Йом-Киппур. Слово "Елул" схожий на корінь дієслова "пошук" на арамейській мові. Талмуд пише, що івритське слово "Елул" можна розширити як абревіатуру "Ani L'dodi V'dodi Li" - "Я є моїм коханим, а мій коханий мій". Елум розглядається як час шукати своє серце і наближатися до Бога, коли готується до настання дня Судного Рішення, Рош Хашана і Дня Спокути, Йом Кипур.
