Емпіричні докази є джерелом знань, отриманих за допомогою спостережень або експериментів. Термін походить від грецького слова досвіду, Εμπειρία. Емпіричні докази є інформацією, яка виправдовує віру в правду або хибність емпіричного твердження. З точки зору емпіризму, можна претендувати на те, щоб мати знання лише тоді, коли має справжню віру, засновану на емпіричних доказах. Це суперечить раціоналістичному погляду, згідно з яким лише причиною або рефлексією вважається свідчення правди чи хибності деяких пропозицій. Почуття є основним джерелом емпіричних доказів. Незважаючи на те, що інші джерела доказів, такі як пам'ять та свідчення інших людей, в кінцевому підсумку відстежуються на деякий сенсорний досвід, вони вважаються вторинними або непрямими.
