Епоксид
Епоксид є циклічним ефіром з трьома кільцевими атомами. Це кільце приблизно визначає рівносторонній трикутник, що робить його дуже напруженим. Натягнуте кільце робить епоксиди більш реакційними, ніж інші ефіри. Прості епоксиди називаються з основної сполуки етиленоксиду або оксирану, наприклад, в хлорметилсірана.
