Стравохід
Стравохід - орган у хребетних, який складається з фіброзно-м'язової трубки, через яку їжа проходить, за допомогою перистальтичних скорочень, від глотки до шлунку. У людей стравохід зазвичай становить 18-25 сантиметрів. Під час ковтання епіглотти нахиляється назад, щоб запобігти їжею гортані. Стравохід проходить за трахеєю та серцем, проходить через діафрагму і впадає в кардію шлунку. Слово "стравохід" походить від латинського стравоходу, що випливає з грецького слова oisophagos, lit. "вхід для їжі". Стінка стравоходу з просвіт назовні складається з слизової оболонки, підслизистої оболонки, шарів м'язових волокон між шарами волокнистої тканини та зовнішнім шаром сполучної тканини. Слизова оболонка - це стратифікований плоский епітелій, який контрастує з одиничним шаром стовбурових клітин шлунку. Перехід між цими двома типами епітелію видно як лінія zig-zag. Більшість м'язів є гладкою мускулатурою, хоча в верхній третині переважають смугасті м'язи. У його стіні є дві м'язисті кільця або сфінктери, один на верху і один у нижній частині.
