Голокост, також відомий як Шоа, був геноцидом, в якому близько шести мільйонів євреїв було вбито німецькими військами під командуванням Адольфа Гітлера та його співавторів. Вбивства мали місце по всій території німецького рейху та окупованих німецькими територіями. Переслідування та геноцид здійснювались поетапно. Спочатку уряд Німеччини прийняв закони, що виключали євреїв з громадянського суспільства, найважливіше - Нюрнберзькі закони 1935 року.
