Термін "неефективність" має декілька значень залежно від контексту, в якому його використовують: ▪ Алокативна неефективність - алокативна неефективність - це ситуація, коли розподіл ресурсів між альтернативами не відповідає споживчому смаку. Наприклад, компанія може мати найнижчі витрати в "продуктивних" умовах, але результат може бути неефективним в умовах розподілу, оскільки "справжні" або соціальні витрати перевищують ціну, яку споживачі готові платити за додаткову одиницю продукту. Це вірно, наприклад, якщо фірма виробляє забруднення.
