Полярність у міжнародних відносинах - це будь-який різновид розподілу влади в міжнародній системі. Вона описує характер міжнародної системи в будь-який даний період часу. Один з них, як правило, розрізняє чотири типи систем: однополярність, біполярність, триполярність та багатополярність для чотирьох або більше центрів сили. Тип системи повністю залежить від розподілу влади та впливу держав у регіоні або глобальному масштабі.
