Несторіанство
Несторианство - христологічна доктрина, висунута Несториєм, константинопольським патріархом 428-431 рр. Вчення, про яке повідомляли дослідження Несторія під Теодором Мопсуестія в Антіохійській школі, підкреслює роз'єднаність людської та божественної природи Ісуса. Вчення Несторія викликало його конфлікт з деякими іншими видатними церковними лідерами, зокрема Кирилом Олександрійським, який особливо критикував його відмову від назви Богородиці для Діви Марії. Несторій і його вчення були врешті-решт засуджені як єретичні в Першій раді Ефесу в 431 році і в Халкідонському соборі в 451 році, що веде до несторіанського схизму, в якому церкви, що підтримують Несториус, розбилися з рештою християнської церкви. Після цього багато прихильників Несторія перейшли до Сасаніда Персії, де вони були пов'язані з місцевою християнською громадою, відомій як Церква Сходу. Протягом наступних десятиліть Церква Сходу все більше стала несторианцем у вченні, що призвела до того, що він відомий по черзі як Несторіанська Церква.
