Нікелевий титан, також відомий як нітінлол, являє собою металевий сплав нікелю та титану, де два елементи присутні в приблизно рівні атомних відсотках, наприклад Нітинол 55, нітинол 60. Нитинові сплави виявляють дві тісно пов'язані та унікальні властивості: пам'ять форми та надпружність. Форма пам'яті - це здатність нітіннолу пройти деформацію за однієї температури, а потім відновлювати свою оригінальну недеформовану форму при нагріванні вище її "температури перетворення".
