Пентан
Пентан - це органічна сполука з формулою C5H12, тобто алкан з п'ятьма атомами вуглецю. Цей термін може відноситися до будь-якого з трьох структурних ізомерів або до їх суміші: в номенклатурі IUPAC, однак, пентан означає винятково н-пентан-ізомер; інші дві називають ізопентаном і неопентаном. Циклопентан не є ізомеру пентану. Пентани є компонентами деяких видів палива і використовуються як лабораторні спеціальні розчинники. Їхні властивості дуже схожі на бутани та гексани.
