Планарний процес - це процес виробництва, який використовується в напівпровідниковій промисловості для побудови окремих компонентів транзистора, і, в свою чергу, з'єднати ці транзистори разом. Це первинний процес побудови сучасних інтегральних мікросхем. Процес був розроблений Жаном Горні, одним з "зрадницьких вісім", працюючи в Fairchild Semiconductor. Ключове поняття полягало в тому, щоб розглянути схему в його двовимірній проекції, тим самим дозволяючи використати концепції обробки фотографії, такі як плівкові негативи, для маскування проекції світлозахищених хімічних речовин.
