An Introduction to
Radio Astronomy
A radio telescope intercepts the radiation coming from celestial sources, usually
separating it into its two polarization components. The telescope sends the
energy it receives through transmission lines to a receiving system where the
signals ...

Astronomy: The Solar System and Beyond
Limitations of a Radio Telescope A radio astronomer works under three
handicaps: poor resolution, low intensity, and interference. Recall that the
resolving power of an optical telescope depends on the diameter of the objective

Horizons: Exploring the Universe
Although a radio telescope's dish may be tens or hundreds of meters in diameter,

Advantages of a Radio Telescope Building large radio telescopes in isolated
locations is expensive, but three factors make it all worthwhile. First, and most
important, a radio telescope can reveal clouds of cool hydrogen in space.
