У великих корпораціях купівля акцій не завжди призводить до сертифікації акцій. У Сполучених Штатах електронна реєстрація витісняє фондовий сертифікат. Компанії більше не зобов'язані видавати паперові сертифікати, і понад 420 із 7000 плюс публічно проданих цінних паперів не мають. Брокери можуть стягувати до 500 доларів США за видачу паперового сертифіката, хоча цього винагороду можна уникнути, якщо або частка в назві вулиці або частка реєстрації акцій безпосередньо з агентом з переказу коштів та отримання сертифіката.
