Спліт-мозок - це термін, що характеризує результат, коли порожнистий корпус, що з'єднує дві півкулі мозку, до певної міри переривається. Це зв'язок симптомів, спричинених порушенням або втручанням у зв'язок між півкуль головного мозку. Хірургічна операція по виробництву цього стану виникає внаслідок перенесення порожнини тіла і, як правило, є останнім засобом для лікування рефрактерної епілепсії. Спочатку виконуються часткові каносотомії; якщо ця операція не вдається, повна каллозотомія проводиться для пом'якшення ризику випадкового фізичного травмування шляхом зменшення тяжкості та насильства епілептичних нападів. Перш ніж використовувати каллозотомії, епілепсія замість цього обробляється фармацевтичними засобами. Після операції часто проводять нейропсихологічні оцінки. Коли пацієнтам з розщепленням мозку виявляється зображення лише у лівому візуальному полі (ліва половина того, що беруть обидва ока (див. Оптичний тракт)), вони не можуть звучати назви того, що вони бачили.
