У ботаніці стома є пором, що знаходиться в епідермісі листя, стебла та інших органів, що використовується для контролю газообміну. Пором межує пара спеціалізованих клітин паренхіми, відомі як захисні клітини, які відповідають за регулювання розміру відкриття. Цей термін також використовується спільно для позначення цілого стоматального комплексу як самого пори, так і його супутніх захисних осередків. Повітря, що містить вуглекислий газ і кисень, потрапляє в рослину через ці отвори і використовується в фотосинтезі в клітинах мезофілу та дихання, відповідно. Кисень, вироблений як побічний продукт фотосинтезу, дифундує в атмосферу через ці ж отвори. Крім того, водяна пара випускається в атмосферу через ці пори в процесі, що зветься транспірацією. Стомати присутні у спорофітному поколінні всіх груп рослин землі, крім печінки. Двотичні клони, як правило, мають більше стоматів на нижній частині епідермісу, ніж верхній епідерміс. З одного боку, однодольні лососи зазвичай мають однакову кількість стоматів на двох епідермах.
