Сонячні птахи та павукові мисливці складають сімейство, Nectariniidae, з дуже маленьких пасовищних птахів. У 15 родах існує 132 види. Сім'я поширюється по всій Африці, на Індійському субконтиненті, в Південно-Східній Азії і лише досягає північної Австралії. Більшість сонячних корінь харчується в основному нектар, але також займають комах і павуків, особливо при годуванні молодих.
