Тека відноситься до будь-якого випадку, покриття або оболонки. У ботаніці тека покритої смуги складається з пари мікроспорангіі, що сусідять один з одним і мають спільну ділянку зникнення, що називається стомий. Будь-яка частина мікроспорофілу, що несе мікроспорангію, називається анефтью. Більшість пилу утворюються на верхівці нитки. Антер і його нитка разом утворюють типову вишну, частину чоловічого квіткового органу. Типові антери є білокулярними, тобто вони складаються з двох текаїв. Кожна тека містить дві мікроспорангії, також відомі як пилкові мішки. Мікроспорангії виробляють мікроспори, які для насінних рослин відомі як пшеничні зерна. Якщо пляшки пилку не сусідні, або якщо вони відкриваються окремо, то не утворюються ніякі. У Lauraceae, наприклад, пилкові мішки розташовані на відстані та відкриті незалежно. Тканину між осередками і клітинами називають сполучною і паренхімою. Обидва пилок є відокремленими стомием. Коли пухкий антив випадає, воно відкривається у стоми. Зовнішні клітини теки утворюють епідерміс. Нижче епідермісу соматичні клітини утворюють тапетум.
